  I like this design, we are looking for a similar design that has all living space for 2 people on main floor. We do not need upstairs area, but would build out for future resale or to provide living space for live in caregivers. I concur with Cheryl of March 04, that the sink and dishwasher should be moved. I see the dishwasher door as a deterrent to passing from the hallway. I would also be nice to see a doorway from the corner of the dining room to a deck area outside the kitchen window for access to a BBQ area. Remove some of the niche area and add a small guest closet and then the underside of the stairs could become a large storage area or provide a small door to underside of stairs from hall from garage.

  I would like to see the sink and dishwasher under the window, next to the stove. Then it makes for a better work zone between the sink, stove, and refrigerator....and avoids traffic between the hallway and dining room (picture fidgety kids moving back and forth to hallway. Also the counter (now without the sink) can be used for appetizers, bar, and buffet.

  Wish there was an optional walkout/balcony from kitchen, lining up with dining back wall, extending to edge of master bedroom, with space for bbq and outdoor entertaining. Also would want a wider living room, and that would make it possible to accommodate a central island in kitchen. At entrance, would want space for seating, to make it easier to put on and remove boots in snowy climate (instead of niches). Otherwise, love it.
